Chapter by Chapter

  • Chapter 1 — Exception Handling in Python: It starts with syntax errors, separates runtime exceptions from them, and ends with Python’s built-in exceptions.
  • Chapter 2 — File Handling in Python: It contrasts text files with binary files, then covers access modes and offsets, read/write methods, tell() and seek(), and the pickle module.
  • Chapter 3 — Stack: It defines the stack, its push and pop operations, and a Python implementation of a stack.
  • Chapter 4 — Queue: It introduces FIFO with front and rear, enqueue and dequeue, a Python list implementation, and a deque used for palindrome checking.
  • Chapter 5 — Sorting: It compares bubble, selection and insertion sort and explains why all three are quadratic in time.
  • Chapter 6 — Searching: It covers linear search, binary search, and search by hashing, including the midpoint and hash formulas.
  • Chapter 7 — Understanding Data: It distinguishes structured from unstructured data, walks through the data processing cycle, and defines five statistical measures.
  • Chapter 8 — Database Concepts: It opens with file system limitations and the DBMS, then explains the relational data model and its five key types.
  • Chapter 9 — Structured Query Language (SQL): It works with MySQL data types and constraints, DDL and DML, SELECT queries, functions, GROUP BY/HAVING, and set operations.
  • Chapter 10 — Computer Networks: It traces networking from ARPANET to the internet, compares PAN/LAN/MAN/WAN, and covers devices, topologies, the mesh cable formula, and MAC vs IP addressing.
  • Chapter 11 — Data Communication: It breaks communication into its five components and explains bandwidth, transmission modes, switching, guided and unguided media, and wireless technologies.
  • Chapter 12 — Security Aspects: It surveys malware types, antivirus methods, a firewall, cookies, hackers, and network threats such as DoS and eavesdropping.
  • Chapter 13 — Project Based Learning: It lays out the five project steps, modular, top-down and bottom-up approaches, teamwork, and the three NCERT project descriptions.

How to Use This Class 12 Computer Science Chapter List

You can use this list three ways. For other subjects in the same class, the Class 12 CBSE Notes hub is the starting point.

  • Find by NCERT chapter number: the list runs from Chapter 1 to Chapter 13 in textbook order.
  • Find by topic: scan the one-line descriptions for the term you remember — stack, SQL, network — and open that chapter.
  • Plan a revision order: Chapters 1–2 are the Python core (see the Exception Handling in Python notes and the File Handling in Python notes), Chapters 3–6 the data structures block, Chapters 7–9 data management (starting with the Understanding Data notes), Chapters 10–12 networks and security, and Chapter 13 the project capstone.

Two dependencies keep this order meaningful. Database Concepts (Chapter 8) builds the vocabulary SQL (Chapter 9) uses, and Computer Networks (Chapter 10) provides the context Data Communication (Chapter 11) needs.

A common revision mistake is blurring the binary search midpoint formula with the hash function from Chapter 6. The Searching notes trace tables are the fix: run a binary search and a hash search side by side until the two formulas stop looking alike.

To confirm the official chapter order, open the Class 12 Computer Science textbook on the NCERT textbook portal.

Treat the directory as a revision checklist. Tick a chapter only when you can name its central structure, algorithm or command family — LIFO for stacks, FIFO for queues, the three sorts, SELECT for SQL.

What’s Inside the Chapter Notes

The notes pages you open from the directory are written as revision companions. What you will find in specific chapters:

  • The Queue notes include a step-by-step trace of a queue and a deque palindrome check.
  • The Sorting notes give pass-by-pass traces of bubble, selection and insertion sort.
  • The Searching notes carry the chapter’s two formulas and guidance on answering the NCERT exercise questions.
  • The Database Concepts notes include worked examples of reading a relation and choosing keys.
  • The Computer Networks notes include worked examples of cable counts in mesh versus star topologies.

Class 12 Computer Science Notes: Frequently Asked Questions

How many chapters are in the Class 12 Computer Science NCERT book?

The rationalised NCERT textbook has 13 chapters, from Exception Handling in Python to Project Based Learning.

Which chapter should I study before SQL in Class 12 Computer Science?

Study Database Concepts (Chapter 8) before SQL (Chapter 9). It introduces relations, tuples, attributes, domains and keys — the vocabulary the SQL chapter assumes.

Is Class 12 Computer Science only about Python?

No. Chapters 1–6 build Python skills such as exception handling, files, stacks, queues, sorting and searching, but the subject then moves to data, databases and MySQL, and later to computer networks and security.

Where can I find Class 12 Computer Science notes for stack and queue?

The Stack notes cover LIFO operations and a Python implementation; the Queue notes cover FIFO, enqueue and dequeue, and a deque palindrome check.

What is the last chapter of Class 12 Computer Science?

Chapter 13 is Project Based Learning. It covers the five project steps, modular, top-down and bottom-up approaches, and teamwork in the NCERT project descriptions.

Which Class 12 Computer Science chapters cover computer networks?

Computer Networks (Chapter 10) and Data Communication (Chapter 11) are the networking chapters, with Security Aspects (Chapter 12) covering threats and protection. Chapter 10 focuses on types, devices, topologies and addressing; Chapter 11 on media, modes and switching.
