Class 12 Informatics Practices Notes – Chapter-wise List

Here is the Class 12 Informatics Practices notes index, arranged chapter by chapter. The directory below maps the chapters of the NCERT Informatics Practices textbook for Class 12 to the notes pages, with each chapter described by the topics it actually covers.

Chapter Directory: The Seven Chapters of Class 12 Informatics Practices

The chapter-wise list below follows the book’s own order, so a revision topic can be matched to its chapter in one glance.

  1. Querying and SQL Functions — SQL functions in queries, GROUP BY for grouped results, and operations on relations.
  2. Data Handling Using Pandas – I — Series and DataFrame structures, CSV transfer, and the Series versus ndarray comparison.
  3. Data Handling using Pandas – II — descriptive statistics, aggregation, sorting, group by, index handling, pivot and pivot_table, and missing values.
  4. Plotting Data using Matplotlib — the pyplot workflow, pandas .plot() kinds, customisation with labels, markers, colours and lines, and chart-by-chart choices.
  5. Internet and Web — network basics, LAN/MAN/WAN, networking devices, topologies, internet services, websites and web servers.
  6. Societal Impacts — digital footprints, netiquette, data protection, IPR, Creative Commons, cyber crime, the IT Act, e-waste and health impact.
  7. Project Based Learning — problem identification, planning, modular splitting, Pandas data processing and reporting.

How to Use These Class 12 Informatics Practices Notes

The chapter list follows the order of the NCERT Informatics Practices textbook for Class 12, which you can verify on the official NCERT textbook portal. For the other subjects at this level, start from the Class 12 CBSE Notes hub.

Think of the book in three blocks:

  • Chapters 1 to 4 — the coding chapters: SQL queries, Pandas data handling, and plotting with Matplotlib.
  • Chapters 5 and 6 — the theory chapters: Internet and Web, and Societal Impacts.
  • Chapter 7 — Project Based Learning, which applies the data skills of the Pandas chapters to a real problem.

Two entry points work for most students. If you are revising code, start with Chapters 1 to 4. If you need the vocabulary of the web or of digital society, go to Chapters 5 and 6.

The split between the two Pandas chapters is simple: Pandas I builds the structures — Series, DataFrame and CSV transfer — while Pandas II runs the analysis — descriptive statistics, aggregation, sorting, group by, pivoting and missing-value handling. Storing data belongs to Chapter 2; summarising or reshaping it belongs to Chapter 3.

What’s Inside the Notes Pages Linked Below

The notes pages linked below are revision documents, not first-time reading. For the coding chapters, expect each function’s syntax, the default behaviours that trip students up, what the function returns, and a worked example for each idea. The theory chapters are organised under clear headings with plain-word definitions.

The plotting notes add chart-by-chart guidance on which kind of plot to reach for, and the project notes walk through a step-by-step method from problem identification to reporting.

FAQs: Finding Your Way Around Class 12 Informatics Practices

Which Class 12 Informatics Practices chapter covers SQL?

Chapter 1, Querying and SQL Functions. It covers SQL functions used in queries, GROUP BY for grouped results, and operations on relations.

What is the difference between Data Handling Using Pandas I and Pandas II?

Pandas I covers the structures you store data in — Series, DataFrame and CSV transfer. Pandas II covers the operations you run on them — descriptive statistics, aggregation, sorting, group by, pivoting and missing-value handling.

Which Class 12 Informatics Practices chapters are practical and which are theory?

Chapters 1 to 4 are the coding chapters — SQL, Pandas and Matplotlib. Chapters 5 and 6 are theory — Internet and Web, and Societal Impacts. Chapter 7, Project Based Learning, applies the data skills to a project.

Where is data plotting taught in Class 12 Informatics Practices?

Chapter 4, Plotting Data using Matplotlib. It covers the pyplot workflow, the pandas .plot() kinds, and the customisation options for labels, markers, colours and lines.
